The client
Workchain are a national workforce provider, supplying temporary personnel to the driving, industrial and commercial sectors. Workchain as a business has seen year on year growth and have been in business for over 12 years.
The problem
Workchain came to onezo with multiple requirements with a very short deadline to completion.
After continued growth, Workchain had out grown their current office space and took the decision to move their entire HQ function to a new purpose built building to accommodate in excess of 100 staff. The entire infrastructure needed to be migrated across whilst causing the least amount of disruption to them and their workers who relied upon the Workchain bespoke system to complete their time sheet and availability. Not only did server/networking hardware need to be migrated and reconfigured, in excess of 80 workstations also needed to be setup and ready to go for Monday morning.
The solution
We supplied and configured a new Cisco ASA 5508-X firewall prior to move date, along with 5 new HP POE Switches including patching in excess of 240 ports to accommodate their current 80 workstations and 80 phones with room for future expansion.
We also supplied and configured a new HP DL380 G9 server with VMWare Hypervisor installed with 8 new Windows 2016 servers balancing the roles of the existing SBS2011 server across them including a new Exchange 2016 environment, providing more security, speed and redundancy. This server is in addition to two existing Dell Poweredge servers.
We was able to migrate without any issues within two hours including transport time across Derby core servers allowing the Workchain system to be available to staff and importantly workers to complete their timesheets.
We then worked throughout the weekend to ensure come Monday morning, Workchain’s staff could log on and work without disruption.
The project was delivered on-time with no problems encountered.
